Eclipse and Tomcat 7 Setup

In this tutorial we will show how Eclipse and Tomcat 7 can be configured together to speed up web application development process. Follow this 3 simple steps.

1. Downloading Tomcat

• Navigate to,
• Find zip distribution and download it.

2. Installing Tomcat

• Unzip downloaded file and place the Tomcat 7 directory named apache-tomcat-7.x.yy somewhere on your drive. Tomcat is ready for use.

3. Configuring Eclipse and Tomcat

• In Eclipse navigate to a Server view,
• Right click and select New -> Server,
• Navigate to Apache and select Tomcat v7.0 Server,
• Click Next,
• In the Tomcat installation directory section click Browse... and pick up the directory where you installed Tomcat,
• Click Finish.

4. Testing configuration

• Navigate to Server view,
• Right click on your newly added server and pick Start,
• Navigate to http://localhost:8080/ in your browser – Tomcat 7 welcome page will appear.

    I do not know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else encountering problems with your
    blog. It looks like some of the text in your content are running off the screen. Can somebody else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them as well?
    This may be a problem with my internet browser because I’ve had this happen before.
